Terms of Service
Last updated: June 18, 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Festival for Re-imagining the Economy website and platform at reimaginefestival.ca (the “Platform”), operated by The Well-being Economy Alliance Canada (WEAll Canada) (“we,” “us,” or “our”). By creating an account, registering, or using the Platform, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy.
If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.
1. About the festival
Festival for Re-imagining the Economy is an online unconference where participants propose sessions, connect with one another, attend events, and contribute reflections and resources to a shared commons. Session topics, schedules, and much of the programme are co-created by participants.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to use the Platform. By registering, you represent that you meet this requirement and that the information you provide is accurate and complete.
3. Your account
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials.
- You are responsible for activity that occurs under your account.
- Notify us promptly at hello@reimaginefestival.ca if you suspect unauthorized access.
- We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or harm the community.
4. Registration and fees
Registration is offered on a pay-what-you-can basis, including a $0 option. Standard and supporter tiers are also available. All amounts are in Canadian dollars (CAD) unless stated otherwise.
- Paid registrations are processed by Stripe. By paying, you also agree to Stripe's applicable terms.
- Registration fees are generally non-refundable except where required by law or expressly stated by us.
- Completing registration does not guarantee placement in any particular session if capacity limits apply.
5. Community guidelines
The Platform is built on mutual respect, curiosity, and care. You agree not to:
- Harass, threaten, discriminate against, or abuse other participants or hosts
- Post content that is unlawful, defamatory, hateful, or sexually exploitative
- Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation
- Spam, scrape, or use automated means to access the Platform without permission
- Attempt to disrupt sessions, interfere with the Platform, or circumvent security measures
- Use the Platform for unauthorized commercial solicitation
- Record, screenshot, or broadcast any sessions, chat logs, or participant directory information without the clear consent of the host and participating individuals (for example, a host requesting verbal consent for a group photo).
We may remove content, restrict features, or remove participants who violate these guidelines or otherwise undermine a safe and welcoming festival environment.
6. Your content
You retain ownership of content you submit (such as session proposals, messages, reflections, and uploads). By submitting content to the Platform, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, reproduce, and share that content as needed to operate the festival, including within participant-facing features and the festival commons, unless you and we agree otherwise in writing.
You represent that you have the rights to share any content you submit and that your content does not infringe the rights of others.
Session recording and AI processing
Festival sessions are a co-created space. To help the whole community learn from what emerges, we use automated AI transcription (via Fireflies.ai) to process session audio and chat in near real time. By joining a session, unmuting your microphone, or typing in the session chat, you grant permission for your voice and text to be processed by this tool for transcription and summarization purposes, as described in our Privacy Policy.
Raw audio and transcript files are held only temporarily, then deleted once processing is complete. De-identified summaries may be stored long term in our systems (Supabase) to support the festival commons. We use automated scripts to strip identifiers before that long-term storage—but no automated process is perfect.
Please participate thoughtfully. Because sessions are open and collaborative, do not share proprietary information, highly confidential materials, trade secrets, or sensitive personal or corporate data during open discussions. If you would not say it in a room of peers, do not say it in a festival session. You are responsible for what you choose to contribute.
7. Sessions and third-party tools
Sessions may be hosted using third-party video or collaboration tools (such as meeting links provided by hosts). Your use of those tools is subject to their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party services we do not control.
8. Participant directory and messaging
After onboarding, parts of your profile are visible to other registered participants, as described in our Privacy Policy. In-platform messaging is provided for festival-related connection. Use it respectfully. We may review reports of misuse and take appropriate action.
9. Intellectual property
The Platform's design, branding, software, and original materials (excluding participant-submitted content) are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or reverse engineer the Platform except as permitted by law.
10. Disclaimers
The Platform and festival sessions are provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not guarantee uninterrupted access, error-free operation, or specific outcomes from participation. Session content reflects the views of participants and hosts, not necessarily those of Festival for Re-imagining the Economy or its partners.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Well-being Economy Alliance Canada (WEAll Canada), Festival for Re-imagining the Economy, and its organizers, volunteers, and partners will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Platform or participation in the festival.
Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms or the Platform will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for registration in the twelve months before the claim, or (b) fifty Canadian dollars (CAD $50).
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.
12. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless The Well-being Economy Alliance Canada (WEAll Canada), Festival for Re-imagining the Economy, and its organizers from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Platform, your content, or your violation of these Terms or the rights of others.
13. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the revised Terms on this page and update the “Last updated” date. Continued use of the Platform after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Canada and the Province of Ontario, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Courts in Ontario shall have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising from these Terms, except where applicable law requires otherwise.
15. Contact
Questions about these Terms can be sent to hello@reimaginefestival.ca.
